HOW CAN I BECOME A MEMBER?
Simply come along to one of our meetings (4th Thursday of the month) and we will talk about your membership and let you know the pro-rata cost; if you are happy you can join up there and then! If you are not ready to commit to membership you can come along as a visitor first.
CAN I JUST COME ALONG AS A VISITOR?
Of course, you can come along as a visitor to see if it’s for you. As the WI is a membership organisation you can attend up to 3 times a year, £8 per meeting, before you are required to join.
I’D LIKE TO TELL THE BURNT CAKES MEMBERS ABOUT A LOCAL PROJECT OR EVENT
Of course, please just get in touch via email (burntcakeswi@oxfordshirewi.co.uk) and we will aim to mention it to our members, or you may be able to come along and talk to us during the business part of our monthly WI meeting.

WHY ARE YOU CALLED BURNT CAKES?
Our group is based in Wantage, and King Alfred famously let the cakes he was charged with watching burn here, we thought this was a perfect challenge to the WI stereotype! We welcome our bakers and non-bakers with equal warmth!
DO I HAVE TO BE GOOD AT BAKING, SEWING, MAKING JAM AND KNOW THE WORDS TO JERUSALEM TO ATTEND?
No, no, no and no! Not at all! We don’t sing in our meetings and very few of us even sew, but we are a diverse crowd of Ladies of all ages and backgrounds who love to try new things and have great fun together in the process!
